Protein Energy Balls

These little bundles will perk up your afternoon or hike with approx 3.5g of protein and 2g fibre per ball. Make exclusively with Get Loose ingredients, and some help from our volunteer dietitian Chris Cheyette.

Remember we have maple syrup loose and a peanut butter machine so you can just buy what you need!

Makes 18-22 balls

Ingredients

  • 100g dates soaked for 10 mins in hot water to soften *

  • 120g nuts & pumpkin (pecans, cashews, walnuts) use what have, or like. We also sell a ready made nut mix. Chop finely or grind *

  • 40g linseeds ground *

  • 30g chia seeds ground *

  • 30g hemp seeds *

  • 4 tbsp peanut butter * 

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract *

  • 60g jumbo, or rolled oats, ground *

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)*

Method

  • Drain the dates but keep the water

  • Add all the ingredients (except date water and maple syrup) to a food processor / mixer bowl

  • Add 5 tbsp of the date water

  • Mix, until dough starts sticking together, add more of the date water if needed. 

  • Mix in maple syrup if using 

  • Take around 1 tbsp of mixture, roll in to a ball

  • Place on a silicone mat (we stock these) and tray

  • Put in fridge for 30 mins

  • Keep in air tight container
