Producer Spotlight — Georganics

Georganics make a range of oral care products from their factory in West Sussex, UK. We stock a range of their items. Lots of research was done in this area to decide which company’s products would make it into Get Loose! Georganics were the clear winner, matching the shop’s values most closely.

What we stock

Get Loose stocks the following products from Georganics:

  • Adult toothbrush

  • Kids toothbrush

  • Peppermint toothpaste

  • Mouthwash tablets

How did they start?

It started with a question - Are all these synthetic chemicals used in conventional oral care really necessary? The research says no!

Founder Alessandro began to formulate his own toothpaste for him and his friends. Soon after, in 2014, Alessandro founded the brand when he was offered the chance to supply his local farmer’s market in Crystal Palace.

The waste issue with mainstream oral care

Every year, it’s estimated that 18,480,000 kilos of waste go to landfill in the UK from plastic toothbrushes and empty toothpaste tubes. Georganics wanted to create a solution to this issue.

Packaging & materials

Georganics products are packaged in, and made of, widely recycled, or compostable, materials.

They also protect deliveries by reusing shredded cardboard from the packaging the raw ingredients come in, ensuring less waste is created throughout the entire production process.

Natural means natural

Not all ‘natural’ toothpastes are what they claim to be. Many still use synthetic ingredients like SLS and Triclosan – that people end up ingesting. Georganics use only natural and organic ingredients for all of their products.

But what about those bristles?

The toothbrush bristles are BPA free nylon which is not recyclable in current UK mainstream systems.

The fully natural and compostable alternative to nylon bristles is pig hair. As you can imagine this is quite problematic for many people. In researching toothbrush options I did get a pig hair toothbrush to try and it was quite odd! The pig hair also comes from China, adding to the complications and ethical minefield ;-)

To resolve this Georganics have come up with a solution. Once your toothbrush is finished the head can easily snap off. Compost the handle (or use it as a plant / seed label) and save the heads. Once you have 10 these can be posted back for recycling for FREE.

We now take your toothbrush heads back and return them to Georganics for recycling. Please remove handle first.

Mouthwash tablets

Free from synthetic ingredients and colourants, Georganics mouthwash tablets help you maintain good oral health and keep your breath fresh. These tablets are a sustainable alternative to traditional mouthwashes as they avoid unnecessary transportation of water. Flavoured with organic Peppermint oil for its cooling aroma and antibacterial properties. Buy the jar once and then get the refill box. Dissolve 1 tablet in 10ml of water. Gargle for at least 30 seconds. Spit out without rinsing.

Other reasons Georganics are awesome
