Anzac Biscuits

An Australian / New Zealand classic. Traditionally made around 25th April, Anzac day, but great at any time of year. Made using all Get Loose ingredients. Thank you to our volunteer Alison for the recipe and photo.

Homemade Anzac Biscuits pictured next to a cup of Under the Weather Tea

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 3/4 cup plain flour

  • 3/4 cup desiccated coconut

  • 3/4 cup rolled oats

  • 100g butter

  • 2 Tbsp golden syrup

  • 2 Tbsp boiled water

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180C or 160C fan. 

  2. Mix the sugar, flour, coconut and rolled oats together.

  3. Melt the butter and golden syrup together.

  4. Dissolve the baking soda in the water and then mix with the melted butter and syrup. 

  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and combine well. 

  6. Place Tbsp sized balls on a greased oven tray and flatten with a fork.

  7. Bake for 10 minutes until preferred level of golden 

    Will store for a couple of weeks in an airtight container (if they last that long).
